The 20mL Scintillation Vial has multiple uses in scintillation counting, gamma counting, chromatography, sample storage and culturing. Because of its leak-tight cap it is also commonly used to store and transport histological specimens in 10% formalin.
All vials are Type 1 borosilicate glass and the range is extensive enough to cover all major manufacturer’s instruments, including Shimadzu, Aijiren, PE, CTC and Tekmar headspace instruments. Vials are available in 10 and 20ml sizes with either round or flat-bottom profile.

A: The unique round well bottom design of the Corning spheroid microplate generates single, uni-form spheroids, that are centered in each well. This technology is a reliable tool for 3D screening. Flat bottom wells generate multiple, non-uniform sized spheroids that are not evenly distributed and lack reproducibility across wells.
Available in 6, 10, and 20 ml sizes in the headspace vials. Use a standard vial to ensure adequate headspace, and this must be achieved at a standard ratio, which must of course be a sample that is not over-diluted. Usually the reserved capacity after comparison should be at least 50% of the sample volume
The dimensions for 12x32mm vials are standard between manufacturers but the length of the neck and width/shape of the vial shoulder may vary. 12x32mm microvials have the same outer dimensions but the inside of the vial may be tapered to reduce volume or contain a fused insert. 12x32mm high recovery vials will have an internal conical bottom
Southern Labware offers a complete line of glass flasks for all your laboratory requirements. Our glass volumetric flasks feature a durable machine blown body and a heavy beaded neck with a sharp graduation line.
Flat or rounded bottom designs Beveled neck vials are available in both 10 mL and 20 mL capacities, flat or rounded bottom. The 20 mm crimp caps provide a consistently secure seal. Flat-bottom headspace crimp top glass vials (2714Q19, Q20) 20 mm beveled crimp top creates much tighter seal
When designing the bottle bottom you can choose between the following bottoms: flat bottom, rounded bottom (HS bottom), round bottom, conical bottom, solid glass bottom and a microliter bottle with inner cone. In the following excerpt from our current catalog you will find an overview of the most important bottle types listed above:
